HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Why pick up the phone when you can tweet and make someone's day?!
That's just what John Mayer did when he gave kudos to fellow singer Demi Lovato via a tweet.
"I have 'La La Land' by @ddlovato stuck in my head," the 31-year-old Mayer tweeted. "Actually, it's not stuck. I'm choosing to sing it. B section is sophisticated."
Mayer's endorsement via cyberspace apparently brought a huge smile to the 16-year-old Lovato's face, who quickly fired back her own tweet.
"That is quite possibly the best compliment I've received in this business," she wrote. "Thank you so, so much!"
"You're going to make lots of records, I can tell," responded Mayer. "Write one song at a time, never apologize for any of them, ever. From 'Wonderland' to Trio stuff, they're all my kids."
Mayer's words of encouragement seemed to hit the rising star at the perfect time, who responded: "See, that's exactly what I needed to hear today. If that's not inspiration, then I don't know what is."
As it turned out, getting praise and encouragement from Mayer via Twitter also impressed Lovato's fans, who apparently loved the cyber exchange.
"I had so many of you guys say they were freaking out and so happy because I had an idol twitter me … I love you guys," tweeted Lovato.
