HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Madonna has apparently crossed the "borderline" with John McCain.
The Republican presidential candidate has lashed out at the pop star over a video montage shown on her "Sticky and Sweet" tour, which kicked off Saturday at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
During Madonna's performance of "Get Stupid," an image of McCain is shown alongside those of Adolf Hitler and Robert Mugabe, in addition to pictures depicting global warming and destruction.
In another sequence, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is shown among the likes of Mahatma Gandhi, John Lennon and Al Gore.
"The comparisons are outrageous, unacceptable and crudely divisive all at the same time," McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds said in a statement to CBS News.
"It clearly shows that when it comes to supporting Barack Obama, his fellow worldwide celebrities refuse to consider any smear or attack off limits," he added.
This is the second time of late that McCain has come face to face with a celebrity. Earlier this month, Paris Hilton responded to a McCain campaign commercial, which likened Obama to the heiress and pop star Britney Spears.
"Hey America, I'm Paris Hilton and I'm a celebrity too," Hilton said in a video response. "Only I'm not from the olden days and I'm not promising change like that other guy. I'm just hot."
