HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jack Bauer has a new thorn in his side.
Jon Voight is joining the cast of the hit Fox television series "24," where he will be the latest nemesis for the Counter Terrorist Unit agent played by Kiefer Sutherland, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The 69-year-old actor will be a recurring character on the series, when it returns for its seventh season.
Voight will first appear in the two-hour Season 7 prequel, before becoming a major emphasis in the latter part of the new season.
The prequel is slated to air on Nov. 23, with season 7 kicking off in January.
It will be Voight's first series role in 40 years. He appeared on several TV shows (including "Gunsmoke") during the early part of his career, but he began to focus on films after achieving success with 1969's "Midnight Cowboy."
Voight, who is the father of actress Angelina Jolie, won an Academy Award for best actor for the 1978 film "Coming Home."
