HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Long before he became a teenage heartthrob, Justin Bieber was unlucky in love.
"My first crush was when I was 13, in my little town in Canada," the 15-year-old tells Us Weekly. "You know, it was one of those little crushes you have when you're younger. I asked her out and she said no."
When asked if he thinks that same girl might have some regrets now that he's topping the Billboard charts, Bieber says: "She might — probably for the wrong reasons."
As for his current crushes, Bieber admits that Beyoncé has definitely caught his eye.
"I met her at the VMAs. I went up to her, said 'I love your music,' and she said, 'Aww, you're so cute,' " he told the mag. "She's gorgeous."
Bieber also made an impression recently on director Paul Haggis, the man behind the video shoot for the "We Are the World" remake to benefit victims of January's devastating earthquake in Haiti.
"He was remarkable," Haggis told MTV News of Bieber, who sings the opening verse in the contemporary track. "This kid comes in that I don't really know. ... I knew the name, and he opened his mouth, and my god the quality of that voice is remarkable for a kid his age."
"I gave him some advice that I thought he should start doing this professionally," he jokingly added. "The kid has a career, don't you think?"
