HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Kirstie Alley is the latest celeb bringing cameras into her home.
The former Cheers star has signed on for a new A&E reality series that will follow her ongoing struggles with weight loss as she juggles life as a single mom to two teenagers in Hollywood, Variety reports.
The as-yet-untitled show, which will run for 10 half-hour episodes, is scheduled to debut sometime next year, the network said.
"Kirstie is exactly the kind of star A&E is drawn to," said A&E nonfiction/alternative programming senior VP Robert Sharenow. "Her personal life has been playing out in the media for years, but this will be the first time she'll be opening up her home to reveal her real life for the cameras."
Alley's weight struggles have been well publicized, having served as a Jenny Craig spokeswoman for three years until 2007. The actress later admitted to putting on the 75 pounds she lost while with Jenny Craig, plus an additional 10 more.
She also mocked her weight gain by starring in the 2005 Showtime series Fat Actress.
