WERNERSVILLE, Pa. — Jon and Kate Gosselin's latest fight was brought on by a disagreement over a nanny.
Jon told reporters on Friday that the estranged couple got into a dispute after he called Stephanie Santoro, a 23-year-old single mother and aspiring model, to come over and watch their children.
"I guess she didn't agree with my babysitting," he told Splash News of the Thursday night incident at the exes home in Wernersville, Pa.
"She tried to come home yesterday, and I wouldn't let her in the gate, and I guess she called the police," Jon continued. "The police came and said it was a civil matter. An officer pulled me aside and I said, 'This has never happened before and I'm just trying to spend time with my kids and she's [Kate] gonna have to leave.' "
Jon said that his soon-to-be-ex tried to "cry it up" but was told to leave the property as it violated the terms of their custody agreement. No one was arrested and no citations were issued as a result of the fight.
"It was a miscommunication," he explained. "Kate said she was coming home, and I said, 'Well, it's my time to spend with the kids.' I don't come home when she's with the kids, and vice versa — and that's how it's supposed to be."
A teary-eyed Kate was seen checking into a local Days Inn soon after the outburst.
The incident came just hours after Kate had appeared on "Live with Regis & Kelly," with host Regis Philbin predicting that the couple would someday reunite.
"We definitely have different goals at this point," responded Kate to Philbin's bold prediction." "A lot has changed. A lot of unexpected things have come up. It's not ideal. And I can't say that I think you're right at all."
