HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Laurie David is slamming a tabloid report that claims she had an affair with Al Gore, which ultimately ended his 40-year marriage to Tipper Gore.
"The rumor is completely and totally untrue," the 52-year-old producer told Time magazine in a statement. "I adore Al and Tipper and consider them part of my family. I'm in a committed relationship and couldn't be happier."
Star magazine claims David and Gore went from friends to lovers and started having an affair two years ago. David was a producer on Gore's 2006 Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth. She divorced Seinfeld creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David in 2007.
David's agent, Dorian Karchmar, also dismissed the affair accusation.
"This report is completely, patently false," Karchmar told People magazine. "I have no idea where it started from or why, but it is absolutely, positively and patently untrue."
The Gores announced their separation on June in an email to family and friends.
"We are announcing today that after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate," they said. "This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration. We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further."
