HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — LFO singer Rich Cronin died Wednesday in a Massachusetts hospital after a long battle with leukemia. He was 35.
The Kingston native penned the band's biggest song, "Summer Girls," which spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Single Sales chart in 1999.
LFO also scored a second Top-10 hit in "Girls on TV."
Cronin was first diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia in 2005. He went on to launch the Rich Cronin Hope Foundation to raise awareness about the disease and educate the public about donating blood and bone marrow.
Four years after being diagnosed with the disease, Cronin reunited with LFO members Brad Fischetti and Devin Lima for a summer 2009 tour.
"We had the best time ever," Fischetti told CNN. "He never thought he'd be on stage again."
