LONDON — Madonna is catching some heat after reportedly causing quite the stir Saturday at Radio 1's Big Weekend music festival.
The pop superstar is said to have made numerous diva-like demands, upsetting organizers and many of the festival's performers along the way.
The fallout began when the "4 Minutes" singer demanded a helicopter to travel from her London home to the festival, which was located just 37 miles away in Maidstone, Kent. Things quickly went from bad to worse upon her arrival.
"As well as her own VIP area, she had a 70-strong entourage and three dressing rooms," a source tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper. "Her security was so tight, even hubby Guy Ritchie had trouble getting in!"
"She had special Kabbalah water shipped in and demanded bouquets of white roses which remained unopened," the source continued. "While she only ate fresh fruit, the same can't be said of her friends. They arrived early and wolfed down free food and booze reserved for the artists."
The "Material Girl" also reportedly upset fellow performers when she arrived late for rehearsals, throwing the day's schedule into disarray.
"Who does Madonna think she is? I'm not into all this — we're all here to perform together," said singer Jon Fratelli. "What happened to rock 'n' roll? Why is she even here? Everything has been changed around just for her and her ridiculous entourage."
"If she has an entourage then we're going to have one, too," he added. "Those people also ate all the food, so we had to order 18 pizzas from Domino's."
