HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Mary Hart and her famous legs are leaving Entertainment Tonight.
The 59-year-old hostess announced her departure Thursday, saying she'll exit the syndicated news magazine when its upcoming 30th season concludes, most likely next May.
"I've had the privilege of spending 29 years doing something I love – how often does that happen?" said Hart, who was inducted into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame in 1999. "I only meant to be at ET for three years, suddenly it's almost 30! I've reached a point when I clearly realize it's time for a change. There are many things I want to do in my life and I'd better get on with them."
She added: "It will certainly be with mixed sentiments that I say 'goodbye' at the end of the season, but it will definitely be with a sense of celebration … 30 years of Entertainment Tonight, are you kidding me? That's an accomplishment and something I'm very proud of!"
ET has yet to pick a replacement for Hart, but Lara Spencer of The Insider is a likely candidate for the position.
"Mary has been a fixture in our lives and we'll miss her dearly," said John Nogawski, president of CBS Television Distribution. "We look forward to celebrating Mary's career in this exciting season to come."
