HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Maura Tierney is returning to television for the first time since undergoing treatment last year for breast cancer.
According to TV Guide, the 45-year-old actress will reprise her role as Denis Leary's love interest Kelly McPhee on the FX series Rescue Me.
Leary said Tierney has already filmed some of her scenes, but her character won't appear until season 7 airs in 2011.
In September, Tierney left NBC's promising drama Parenthood in order to continue her treatments for breast cancer. She first revealed her medical condition in July after NBC released a statement saying that production on the series would be halted until November.
"[Tierney] has finished treatment and is doing very well and is happy to move forward with the next phase of her life," her rep told TV Guide in a statement.
This won't be the star's first gig since her health problem. In February, she returned to work in the play North Atlantic, which opened in Los Angeles and is currently playing in New York City.
