HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — R&B star Maxwell made a splash on Wednesday when he debuted his new "Bad Habits" music video on "The Steve Harvey Morning Show."
The 36-year-old singer's latest video features actress Kerry Washington. It is the second track off Maxwell's "BLACKsummers'night" release, the first of planned trilogy of albums, which dropped on July 7.
The Brooklyn, New York native has been enjoying a career resurgence after dropping off the musical charts for several years. In May, "Pretty Wings," the first track off Maxwell's new album, became just the sixth song in the 15-year history of Billboard's adult charts to launch in the top 15. The feat placed the singer in the company of such legendary artists as Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Prince and Anita Baker.
Maxwell last graced the Adult R&B chart when his 15-week No. 1 "Lifetime" completed a whopping 91-week run on April 19, 2003. Only Kem's "Love Calls" (97 weeks in 2003-04) has spent more time on the tally.
"BLACKsummers'night," is the first album from Maxwell since 2001.
