BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Tami Farrell wasted little time in making her first public appearance as the new Miss California.
Farrell, who assumed the title when Carrie Prejean was dethroned Wednesday by pageant officials, stepped out for Thursday night's official launch of Gridlock Denim at the Kitson store on Robertson in Beverly Hills, Calif. Earlier in the day, Farrell spoke of her shock when the phone initially rang giving her the title.
"It was definitely a crazy phone call to receive, but I'm excited to represent the state," she told Fox News. "I only found out yesterday! It was definitely some interesting news to receive but I'm just so excited."
Farrell said she hasn't spoken with Prejean, who has been the center of controversy for her views on same-sex marriage, as well for some topless photos of her that had surfaced.
"Unfortunately she and I never really established a relationship or friendship at the pageant but I wish her the best of luck in whatever she does now," said Farrell.
As for her new boss in pageant owner Donald Trump, Farrell said the two have a "sweet" history together.
"I used to bake him cookies and brownies!" she said. "I've got a good working relationship with Mr. Trump, it is always good to have him on your side."
