HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Michelle Williams is slowly getting her life back following the shocking death of her ex-husband Heath Ledger earlier this year.
According to published reports, the 27-year-old actress has found love again as she is currently dating director Spike Jonze. The couple reportedly met when Williams auditioned for Jonze's upcoming film "Where the Wild Things Are."
The Academy Award-nominated Jonze, 38, is best known for the 1999 film "Being John Malkovich" and his 2002 flick "Adaptation." He is also a co-creator of MTV's "Jackass."
Williams and Jonze recently worked together on the film "Synecdoche, New York," which is due in theaters later this year.
The pair has reportedly been spotted spending time together at the filmmaker's New York City home.
Jonze was previously married to fellow filmmaker Sofia Coppola. The couple divorced in 2003 after four years of marriage.
Since the divorce, Jonze has been romantically linked to Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O and actress Drew Barrymore.
Williams has stayed out of the tabloids ever since Ledger's death in January from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. The couple met on the set of "Brokeback Mountain," in which the late actor was nominated for an Oscar. They later became engaged, but broke off their relationship in 2007. Their daughter, Matilda, was born Oct. 28, 2005 in New York City.
Following Ledger's death, Williams released a statement in which she said "my heart is broken."
"I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father," her statement continued. "All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day."
"His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees, hugs animals, and takes steps two at a time, and we know that he is with us still," she continued. "She will be brought up with the best memories of him."
