HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Mickey Rourke isn't hitting the ring after all.
After announcing his desire to join "Wrestlemania," the 52-year-old actor has had a change of heart. Rourke, whose role in "The Wrestler" has earned him a best actor Oscar nomination, told reporters at Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards that the WWE had invited him to participate in the event.
“Mickey was very honored to be asked as he has the greatest respect for WWE, however, he will not be participating in 'Wrestlemania,' " Rourke's rep said in a statement to Access Hollywood. "He is focusing entirely on his acting career."
At Sunday's show, Rourke went as far as to challenge WWE star Chris Jericho during an interview with Access.
"Chris Jericho, you better get in shape,” said Rourke. "Because I'm coming after your a--."
