LONDON — One can safely scratch Courtney Love off the list of potential dates for Mickey Rourke.
With a rumor circulating that "The Wrestler" star asked the rocker out via text, Rourke shot down any future with Love in one swift remark.
"I'd rather be on a deserted island with a gorilla," the Oscar-nominated actor told reporters last week in London, when asked if he and Love were dating.
Romance rumors are nothing new for the 56-year-old Rourke, who has also been linked to his much-younger "Wrestler" co-star, 21-year-old Evan Rachel Wood. Wood was quick to deny those reports, which surfaced late last year after her breakup from rocker Marilyn Manson.
"Mickey and I bonded while shooting 'The Wrestler' and we became friends, but nothing more," Wood told People. "I guess, because of my recent break up, I will be linked to many people, but I am not interested in pursuing a relationship at this point in my life. Any such rumor should not be taken seriously."
Love, 44, was previously married to late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain.
