HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Mike Myers put a lot of effort into "The Love Guru," but reaped an unwanted reward Wednesday.
The film topped the field of nominees announced Wednesday for the 29th Annual Razzies, the annual awards handed out to the worst in Hollywood.
Myers not only starred in "Love Guru," he also co-wrote and produced the feature. John Wilson, the founder of the Razzies, had plenty to say about Myers topping this year's "awards."
"This is one of those auteur-of-the-awful situations," Wilson told The Associated Press. "I think people are tired of him in general. He hasn't really made a good movie in quite some time."
In addition to worst picture "honors," the comedy flop also garnered worst performance nominations for Myers and fellow co-stars Jessica Alba, Verne Troyer and Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley.
Others competing in the category of worst picture are "Disaster Movie," "The Happening," "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale," "Meet the Spartans" and Paris Hilton's "The Hottie & the Nottie."
Hilton was a multiple nominee. The celebutante is up for worst actress and worst screen couple (with Joel David Moore) in the "Hottie." She also "scored" a worst supporting actress nomination for "Repo! The Genetic Opera."
Other multiple nominees this year include Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy, who seems to be an annual target of the Razzies.
This year's Razzies will be handed out on Feb. 21, a day before the Academy Awards.
