HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Miley Cyrus is about to distance herself from "Hannah Montana."
The teen phenom will release her first full-length album under her own name when "Breakout" becomes available on July 22. It is a break from the Disney character that has made her one of the biggest stars today.
Cyrus, 15, recently debuted the album's first single, "7 Things," on the syndicated radio show Elvis Duran and the Morning Zoo.
The track describes the pain of a recent breakup. In the song's chorus, Cyrus shares seven things she "hates" about her ex: "You're vain, your games, you're insecure/You love me, you like her/You make me laugh, you make me cry."
Of course, the track also includes what she likes about her ex: "Your hair, your eyes, your old Levi's/And when we kiss, I'm hypnotized/You make me laugh, you make me cry."
Cyrus wrote the single with a little help from Antonina Armato and Tim James. The track was produced by John Fields.
The new single comes on the heels of the young star's first Billboard top 10 Hot 100 hit, "See You Again."
She also has two albums in The Billboard 200: "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert" at No. 33 and "Hannah Montana 2 (Soundtrack)/Meet Miley Cyrus" at No. 65.
