HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Miley Cyrus is headed for the big screen in a new Disney project.
The 15-year-old Cyrus will star in an as-yet-untitled film that is being custom-made especially for her, according to Variety.
The project is being penned by "Notebook" author Nicholas Sparks, who is currently working on the novel while simultaneously adapting the screenplay, the trade says.
The role came about after Cyrus met with Disney executives and mentioned Sparks' 2002 movie, "A Walk to Remember," which starred Mandy Moore, as the type of film she'd love to participate in.
While the plot is being kept a secret, it is expected to touch on family and romance, Variety says. Cyrus' mother, Tish, will serve as an executive producer.
The book is expected to hit shelves next fall.
Sparks told Variety that he was excited about the opportunity to work with Cyrus, whose familiarity with his work helped bring the project together.
"This is similar to the way it's gone with movies based on my novels; it's just out of order," said Sparks. "Certain opportunities garner your interest, and this was one of those."
The film is expected to help transition Cyrus into more adult roles as her "Hannah Montana" days start to wind down.
