HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Miley Cyrus is dealing with the end of her parents' marriage.
The Disney star's father, Billy Ray Cyrus, has filed for divorce from his wife of 17 years, Tish Cyrus.
"As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family," the divorcing pair said Wednesday in a statement to People magazine. "We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers."
Billy Ray, 49, filed the divorce papers Tuesday in Tennessee, citing irreconcilable differences, according to TMZ.
In addition to Miley, the pair has two other children together – Braison, 16, and Noah, 10. Billy Ray also adopted Trace and Brandi, Tish's children from a previous relationship.
This is the second divorce for the "Achy Breaky Heart" singer, who split with first wife, Cindy Smith, in 1991.
