HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Minnie Driver confirmed she is expecting for the first time while appearing Thursday on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
The revelation came about as Leno joked that the 38-year-old actress and singer had gained some weight from too many stops at the Hometown Buffet.
“Are you calling me fat? You’ve noticed my tummy, haven’t you?” Driver responded.
“Are you pregnant?” Leno asked.
“Yes, I am,” she said.
Driver said she likes being pregnant “more than anything else.” But she does have a few questions.
“I don’t know why they call it morning sickness,” she said. “I am sick morning, noon and night, but it’s a fair trade-off.”
The British-born star, who did not reveal the father of her first child, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the 1997 film “Good Will Hunting.” She dated her costar in the film, Matt Damon, in the late 1990s, and later got engaged to Josh Brolin in 2001.
Driver currently stars on the FX series “The Riches.” Last summer, she also released her second album, “Seastories.”
