NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Miranda Lambert made history Wednesday when she scored a recond nine nominations for the 2010 CMA Awards, the most for any female artist in the history of the awards ceremony.
Lambert received nominations for entertainer of the year, female vocalist of the year, album of the year for Revolution, single of the year for both "White Liar" and "The House That Built Me," song of the year for "White Liar," musical event for "Bad Angel" with Dierks Bentley and Jamey Johnson, and video of the year for both "White Liar" and "House." She fell just short of breaking the CMA record of 10 established by Alan Jackson in 2002.
Lady Antebellum garnered the second highest number of nominations with five, including entertainer of the year, album of the year for Need You Now and single of the year for "Need You Now."
The Zac Brown Band and Lambert's fiancé, Blake Shelton, followed just behind with four nominations apiece.
For the fifth time, the announcement of the final nominees in five of the 12 CMA Awards categories were made on ABC's Good Morning America. Nominees Dierks Bentley and Lambert delivered the news from the GMA studios in the heart of New York City's Times Square. Finalists in the other seven categories were announced yesterday in Nashville at the historic Ryman Auditorium by Justin Moore and first-time nominee Chris Young.
"Records were set and the bar has been raised with this exciting group of nominees," said Steve Moore, CMA Chief Executive Officer. "There will be a heightened level of excitement and anticipation for the CMA Awards in November."
The 44th annual CMA Awards, hosted for the third time by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, will air live on ABC from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Nov. 10.
