New 'Idol' Judge Kara DioGuardi Is Engaged

Kara DioGuardiHOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Kara DioGuardi is making headlines before her big debut.

The newest "American Idol" judge recently got engaged, her rep confirmed to People.

DioGuardi's boyfriend, Mike McCuddy, popped the question on Dec. 8 while the pair was vacationing in Mexico, her rep says.

They have yet to set a wedding date.

McCuddy, a 34-year-old former school teacher who now works as a general contractor, has a son from a previous relationship.

The 38-year-old DioGuardi makes her long-awaited debut when "Idol" kicks off its eight season tonight.
