HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Nicolas Cage is suing Kathleen Turner over allegations she made in her new autobiography, Send Yourself Roses.
In the book, Cage's former co-star in the 1986 film "Peggy Sue Got Married" writes: "He caused so many problems. He was arrested twice for drunk-driving and, I think, once for stealing a dog. He'd come across a chihuahua he liked and stuck it in his jacket."
After the book's details were revealed last month, Cage fired back saying, "I have never been arrested for anything in my life, nor have I stolen a dog."
On Friday, Cage's attorney began libel proceedings against Turner at London's High Court. His lawyer tells New York's Daily News, "If he doesn't get a retraction, he intends to go full speed ahead with litigation in the U.S."
"Peggy Sue Got Married," which was directed by Cage's uncle Francis Ford Coppola, earned Turner an Oscar nomination. Her autobiography has already been released in the UK and will hit U.S. bookshelves this week.
