HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Nicole Richie has been released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was being treated for pneumonia.
"So I stepped off the plane after a month out of the country, and basically went straight to the hospital for the week. But don't worry all is well and we are home with no problems," wrote the star's boyfriend, Joel Madden, on his band's Web site Friday.
Richie, 28, had checked into the Los Angeles hospital after battling her illness for more than a week. Last week, she missed the launch of her House of Harlow jewelry line at Bebe in Los Angeles, leading to her rep shooting down rumors that the former Simple Life star was suffering from the swine flu.
Richie, who gave birth to her second child in September, recently admitted that her illness was growing old.
"OK cold, it's been 6 days. Lets part ways graciously & keep it moving," she tweeted last Sunday.
Madden said the illness had not only kept him from sleeping for several days, but also kept him from working on Good Charlotte's forthcoming album.
Wrote Madden: "I was supposed to go into the studio [and] finish the last few vocals for the record, but that had to wait. Family first."
