HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Nicole Richie is slamming the tabloids for claiming she suffered from an eating disorder, a rumor that first surfaced in 2006.
"I felt it was a little unfair to say someone has an eating disorder when they don't. It's extremely insulting and irresponsible," the 28-year-old mother of two tells the March issue of the U.K. Marie Claire. "An eating disorder is serious and it's a disease. I don't think you can lightly say someone has a disease unless they are openly telling you that they do."
In September, Richie and her longtime boyfriend, rocker Joel Madden, welcomed a son named Sparrow. The new arrival joined the couple's 2-year-old daughter Harlow. In addition to her Winter Kate fashion collection, Richie also has a shoe line, a novel and a new series that she's developing for ABC in the works, so rest assured she isn't sweating the past.
"I'm just one to live in the present and enjoy the time that I'm having. Going into my past is just not something that I do," she says. "Right now I'm just living my dreams."
