HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Paris Hilton, the world's most talked about blonde beauty, says she has her share of ugly days just like everyone else.
"All girls feel like a "nottie" some days — like someone who isn't turning heads," the 26-year-old Paris, who stars in the upcoming film, "The Hottie and the Nottie," tells Parade magazine. "That's just part of life. I just get a facial or a massage. Pampering yourself gets you back into "hottie"-ness."
The former "Simple Life" star appears more focused than ever on her acting career these days, devoting plenty of attention to working with her acting coach, Ivana Chubbuck. In addition to her new flick, she will also be appearing on an episode of "The L Word" in the future.
"It's true. I have no idea what kind of character I'll be playing, but it's a good show," Hilton says of the Showtime series.
One of the more surprising revelations Paris shares is her love for a couple of indoor and outdoor sports.
"I'm really good at ice hockey," she says. "I've been playing since 10th grade, and people don't know that I play defense in hockey. I like to check people, push people down.
"And I love fishing. I like to catch them, but I don't eat them. I just put them right back, because I feel bad for them."
With so much media scrutiny on her life over the years, Hilton says she's learned to keep her guard up. She says being in the public spotlight has toughened her, making her less trusting of those around Hollywood.
"I'm very wary of people," she says. "I only surround myself with my really close friends and people I've known a long time and people I know love me and know the real me.
"You know, I'm a really good judge of character, so when people are around that shouldn't be there, I usually will know right away. I know how to make the right choices."
Paris, who is rumored to be romancing "Entourage" star Adrian Grenier again, credits her mom for raising her well and telling her to remain true to herself.
"My mom has always been really supportive," she says. "She's one of my best friends. And she's just always told me to stay the same and stay the sweet girl I've always been since I was little and not let any of the Hollywood stuff get to my head, and you'll leave a good karma."
As for her mom's advice that she still carries with her to this day, Paris says, "Put your shoulders back and don't chew gum."
