VANCOUVER — Randy Quaid and his wife, Evi, have been arrested in Canada after they skipped a California court hearing earlier in the week.
According to CTV, the Quaids were detained Wednesday in Vancouver, two days after bench warrants were issued for their arrest.
A Santa Barbara judge issued the warrants when the couple failed to appear at a mandatory hearing stemming from their arrest last month for allegedly living in the guest house of a Montecito home they once owned.
The Quaids were scheduled to appear Friday afternoon at a Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board hearing, a spokesperson for the department told CTV.
Last year, the eccentric twosome famously skipped several court dates after they were charged with defrauding an innkeeper of more than $10,000 at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito. Prosecutors later dropped felony charges against Quaid, but his wife received a three-year probation sentence after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor count of defrauding an innkeeper.
