HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ashley Tisdale's rep, Scott Appel, has slammed online reports that the "High School Musical" has been diagnosed as HIV positive.
"The story is completely untrue," Appel tells Usmagazine.com.
The rumor mill began last Thursday when several Internet reports surfaced saying that the 22-year-old star may have contracted the disease from her rhinoplasty procedure last year.
One Web site even posted what it claimed was a statement from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
"Ashley and her family are trying to come to terms with this horrible development. They only ask that you pray for Ashley's health and to please respect their privacy as the family decides on the next course of action," the statement read.
But Cedars-Sinai denies ever releasing a statement.
"We did not release any statement regarding Ashley Tisdale," hospital spokesperson Simi Singer tells Us.
Tisdale is currently away in Utah shooting "High School Musical 3."
