HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Landon Donovan is dealing with much more than just the U.S. being eliminated from the 2010 World Cup.
The soccer star has addressed rumors that a British woman is pregnant with his child, telling Sports Illustrated that he'll take responsibility if the accusation proves true.
"I was informed of the possibility during the World Cup, and if I need to take responsibility, then I will provide the appropriate support," Donovan told SI.com. "This is a private matter and I will refrain from further comment at this time."
Donovan, 28, and his wife, actress Bianca Kajlich, announced their separation last July, but they have never divorced. They got married at the Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara, Calif. on New Year's Eve in 2006.
Donovan scored the lone U.S. goal in Saturday's 2-1 loss to Ghana. His three goals during the 2010 World Cup raised his career total in the event to five, which is the all-time record.
