HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Katy Perry and Russell Brand have gotten engaged after four months of dating, according to published reports.
The British star reportedly proposed last week while the couple was vacationing in Jaipur, India, an insider told Us Weekly. However, that contradicts previous engagement reports that first appeared a week ago in the U.K. media, which said the proposal took place before Christmas.
"Russell knows Katy's the one for him," a source told London's Daily Mirror on Dec. 27. "He's never been into a girl like he has with her and they're besotted. He asked her to marry him last week and she quickly said yes."
"They don't know when the wedding will be, but they are planning to make it in 2010 if the schedules can work," added the insider.
While she accepted the proposal, Perry, 25, reportedly asked for something different than the lavish Cartier ring that Brand, 34, proposed with.
Last month, Brand admitted to Britain's GMTV that he was lucky to have finally found someone special after his years of womanizing.
"There was a deep craving within me — I mistook it for lust," he explained. "I thought I was promiscuous, but it turns out I was just thorough to get the right one. I'm ever so happy."
The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star also admitted that he was eager to settle down and start a family.
"[Marriage] would be good," he said. "I do want to have children."
