LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. — The Laguna Beach Police Department is requesting that Richie Sambora be charged with two misdemeanor counts — DUI and child endangerment — stemming from his arrest last month, Usmagazine.com reports.
The 48-year-old rocker was arrested for DUI in the coastal Orange County town on March 25. At the time of his arrest, Sambora was traveling with his girlfriend, Jenn Mallini, his 10-year-old daughter Ava (his child with ex-wife Heather Locklear), and her teenage cousin.
"All that [this] means is the police department has requested these charges against him and it was sent over to the district attorney's office," Jason Kravetz of the Laguna Beach Police Department tells Us. "It does not mean that he is officially charged, the DA has the final decision on that."
The Bon Jovi guitarist finalized his divorce from Locklear last April and lost his father to lung cancer in the same month. Two months later, he entered a treatment facility due to a drinking problem.
Sambora is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on May 7. It is possible that he could face jail time if formally charged with both misdemeanors.
