HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Disney has tapped Garrett Hedlund to star in "Tron," a sequel to the 1982 cult classic by the same name, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The 24-year-old actor will star as a man pulled into the world of a computer who goes about retracing the steps of a character from the original film named Kevin Flynn.
Jeff Bridges is set to return in the role of Flynn, while Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett will also star in the $150 million sequel.
Hedlund is a relative unknown, having made his feature film debut in 1984's "Troy." Among his other credits are "Four Brothers," with Mark Wahlberg and Terrence Howard, and "Georgia Rule," with Lindsay Lohan, Jane Fonda and Felicity Huffman. The Minnesota native has also appeared in the fantasy film "Eragon," as well as Peter Berg's "Friday Night Lights."
Shooting on "Tron," which was previously known as "Tron 2" and "Tr2n," is scheduled to begin in the spring.
