HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Rod Stewart says it's time for Paris Hilton to grow up and quit partying.
Stewart, whose daughter Kimberly was once a close friend of the heiress, is speaking out after Hilton was arrested in Las Vegas for possession of cocaine.
"She's a lovely girl. She was friends with Kimberley but I don't think they see each other anymore. I've always found her tremendously polite and very respectful, but, you know, it's time to move on perhaps, give up the drugs," the 65-year-old rocker tells the U.K.'s Daily Telegraph. "There's other things, you don't need them. She's a beautiful girl. We've all done it, but I've never been a druggie sort of person so I've always been against it."
Hilton is facing felony charges after 0.8 of a gram of cocaine allegedly fell out of a purse she was carrying. The drugs were discovered after she and her boyfriend, Cy Waits, were pulled over on the Las Vegas Strip last Friday.
Despite his warning, Stewart said he has a liberal attitude when it comes to parenting his seven children.
"The worst thing you can do as a parent is put your foot down and say no," explained Stewart, who is expecting another baby with wife Penny Lancaster. "I think you've got to say, 'I know you want to do it, let's talk about it'. If you say no they're going to do it anyway, so just give them the advice from your experiences and what's happened to your friends and pass it on."
