HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Russell Simmons says he's happy to fork over $40,000 a month in child support to his two young daughters.
The music mogul took to his blog Friday to speak out about about the finalization of his divorce yesterday. The agreement was signed off by Los Angeles Superior Court judge Marjorie Steinberg, who awarded full custody of 9-year-old Ming and 6-year-old Aoki to his ex-wife, Kimora Lee Simmons. In addition, the Def Jam founder agreed to pay $40,000 a month until his daughters are 19 and a half years old.
"I am reading these stories today about how a judge ordered me to pay Kimora $40,000 a month in child support and I want to make something very clear. Nothing was ordered, it was given," Simmons wrote on his blog.
"My kids have a fabulous life; they are exposed to a broad range of artistic and scholastic educational programs and I'm very happy to contribute to that," he continued. "As long as I have it, they can have it. If I ever don't have it, I'm coming to live with them!"
Simmons and his ex, who is currently dating and expecting a child with actor Djimon Hounsou, split in March 2006.
