HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Sandra Bullock and Jesse James have reportedly been interviewing divorce lawyers amid reports that the Monster Garage star cheated on the Oscar-winning actress.
According to TMZ, Bullock's reps have been in contact with multiple possible divorce lawyers, including Lance Spiegel, who has emerged as the frontrunner for the job. The Beverly Hills attorney has previously handled high-profile divorce cases for the likes of Heather Locklear, Charlie Sheen and Michael Jackson.
TMZ claims that James' people have also been putting out feelers, although he will not be the one to initiate the divorce.
Last week, San Diego-based tattoo model Michelle "Bombshell" McGee claimed she carried on a months-long affair with James, but said the reality star led her to believe his marriage was over.
"I would never have hooked up with him if I thought he was a married man," she told In Touch Weekly magazine. "He gave me the impression they were separated."
On Thursday, James stopped short of confirming the infidelity rumors surrounding him when he issued a public apology to Bullock and his three children.
"The vast majority of the allegations reported are untrue and unfounded. Beyond that, I will not dignify these private matters with any further public comment," he said in a statement to People. "There is only one person to blame for this whole situation, and that is me. It's because of my poor judgment that I deserve everything bad that is coming my way.
"This has caused my wife and kids pain and embarrassment beyond comprehension and I am extremely saddened to have brought this on them. I am truly very sorry for the grief I have caused them. I hope one day they can find it in their hearts to forgive me."
Bullock, who has reportedly left the couple's Southern California home, has not been seen since the affair allegations first surfaced.
