MARSEILLE, France — A second worker has died as a result of Thursday's stage collapse during set-up for Madonna's tour stop in France.
Charles Prow, 23, died overnight at a hospital in Marseille, authorities said Friday.
Also killed was 53-year-old Charles Criscenzo, who died immediately after the stage fell as workers were preparing for Madonna's show on Sunday at the Velodrome Stadium.
Authorities said more than 30 other people were injured in the accident, including one who was hospitalized with a life-threatening condition.
"I am devastated to have just received this tragic news," Madonna said in a statement Thursday through her spokesperson Liz Rosenberg. "My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news."
Sunday's show in France was cancelled following the tragic accident.
Madonna's ongoing "Sticky and Sweet" world tour kicked off last October at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J.
