HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Shakira has no desire to head for the altar, even though she's been dating the same man for nine years.
"It's funny how the papers want to see you married, and then they want to see you divorced," the 32-year-old singer reveals in the latest issue of Rolling Stone. "Well, I won't do any of it."
Shakira says her pessimistic views on marriage have more to do with society than her longtime boyfriend, investment banker Antonio de la Rua.
"We live in a society that represses women's subconscious dreams," explains the Columbian star, whose third English album, She Wolf, drops on Nov. 23. "You know, women have to make enormous efforts through life, much larger than men. We deal with so many pressures: the pressure of aesthetics, and how society wants us to deliver our performances as mothers, daughters and wives."
While she's not one for marriage, don't be surprised if Shakira becomes a mom for the first time in the near future.
"My body feels like it is asking to reproduce, to have a huge belly and carry babies," she says.
