HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Shayne Lamas is speaking out after being arrested for DUI earlier this month.
"It was really traumatic for me," the 24-year-old reality star tells Us Weekly. "Going through that was horrible for me, so I am my biggest punisher, and I have just been dealing with it myself. You just keep yourself up."
Lamas was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving around 1 a.m. on Nov. 14 in Venice, Calif. She contends that she only had one drink that night, making her arrest all the more difficult to swallow.
"Drinking and driving is absolutely absurd, and I did not condone it, but when you are out with friends and you have one drink, you think that you are OK," said the former Bachelor contestant, who is currently starring with her family on the E! reality show Leave it to Lamas.
"Everybody does it, and now you have to think that one drink is one too many," she added. "If are going to bring alcohol up to your lips, don’t drive. End of story."
Lamas is due in court on Dec. 9 to face the misdemeanor charge.
