HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The show is apparently not over for a couple of Vegas legends.
Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn, the illusionists who thrilled Las Vegas audiences for years before a tragic tiger accident on stage, plan to make a one-night-only comeback next February. The comeback show will take place at the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute's Keep Memory Alive fundraiser in Las Vegas.
The German-born duo have not performed since October 2003, when Roy was seriously injured during a performance at The Mirage on the Las Vegas Strip. At the show, a white tiger named Montecore attacked Roy, sinking its teeth into his neck and dragged him off the stage in front of a stunned crowd. The attack ended Siegfried & Roy's long-running production at the hotel.
Over the years, the performers have stated they believe the tiger sensed Horn was suffering a mini-stroke and was actually attempting to drag him to safety.
Publicist Dave Kirvin said the pair is currently working on plans for their special performance. He also said that he would be "very surprised if animals were not part of the performance."
"Siegfried and Roy and white lions and other endangered animals go hand in hand," Kirvin told the Associated Press.
