LONDON — Singer Amy Winehouse has been arrested on suspicion of assault, BBC News reports.
The 24-year-old Winehouse went to meet with London police officials on Friday morning, where she was questioned over an incident earlier in the week in which a 38-year-old man claims he was assaulted by a woman fitting the British singer's description.
"A 24-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault after attending a central London police station by appointment," a Scotland Yard spokesman tells the BBC. "She is currently in custody."
Winehouse's arrest led to her missing her husband Blake Fielder-Civil's court appearance Friday morning. Fielder-Civil is currently facing charges of assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
At today's hearing, a judge ruled that Fielder-Civil will stand trial on June 2 and that he will remain jailed until that time.
Fielder-Civil, 25, who married Winehouse last May and has been behind bars since November, was reprimanded at the hearing for smiling and attempting to communicate with a woman who was sitting in the public gallery, the BBC says.
