HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — "SNL" took its first serious swipe at President Barack Obama on Saturday in a skit that had the man in the oval office admitting he's accomplishing nothing.
"There are those on the right who are angry. They think that I'm turning this great country into something that resembles the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany, but that's just not the case," declared Fred Armisen in his popular role of Obama. "Because when you look at my record it's very clear what I've done so far and that is nothing. Nada. Almost one year and nothing to show for it."
During the comedy bit, a checklist was displayed that had "NOT DONE" marked off next to many of the notable campaign promises made by Obama, including: closing Guantanamo Bay, getting out of Iraq, improving the status of the fight in Afghanistan, health care reform, global warming, immigration reform, gays in the military, limits on executive powers and torture prosecutions.
"Saturday Night Live" is currently in the midst of its 35th season on the air.
