SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Former Death Row Records kingpin Marion "Suge" Knight was hospitalized after an early-morning fight Monday at the W Hotel in Scottsdale, according to the Arizona Republic.
Two men were arrested after the scuffle, Robert Carnes Jr., 38, and Thomas Leon Anderson Jr., 33. Both are accused of assault and disorderly conduct.
Carnes told authorities that he is the business manager for music star Akon, who was among the celebrities in town for the NBA All-Star Game played Sunday night in nearby Phoenix.
Authorities received a call around 3:30 a.m. about two groups exchanging words at a private party on the hotel's second floor. Upon their arrival, they witnessed Knight getting punched twice in the face, police spokesman, Sgt. Mark Clark, told the Republic.
"It broke out and was over in a few seconds," said Clark, who added that officers used Tasers to break up the fight.
The 43-year-old Knight was taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn, where he was treated for face injuries, the newspaper said.
No other details about his condition were revealed.
As Death Row's co-founder, Knight helped launch the careers of such artists as Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. However, his empire later crumbled and he has since become better known for his legal and financial woes in recent years.
