HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Susan Boyle has leaped into the mainstream with her singing pipes and her voice may be doing wonders for her dating life too.
When the Scottish singing sensation first shot onto the scene last weekend on "Britain's Got Talent," she admitted to never having been on a date, let alone kissed. But fame can do wonders for one's dating life and the British media is touting the singer's suddenly blossoming social scene.
On Friday, Boyle ducked the dating question while continuing her rounds in the U.S. with an appearance on NBC's "Today Show." When asked by "Today" host Meredith Vieira if she had a boyfriend, Boyle laughed and issued a polite, "No comment."
The 47-year-old Boyle initially drew snickers when she first walked onto the stage last weekend and said she was unemployed and lived alone with her cat. But her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical "Les Miserables" wowed both the audience and judges, including the often cynical Simon Cowell.
"It was really amazing. I was taken aback," Boyle said of the crowd's reaction.
Boyle's stunning performance has since gone viral, with more than 20 million people having watched her showbiz debut on YouTube. The rags to riches story hasn't been lost on Boyle, who admits she's still having to pinch herself.
"It's a huge impact on my life," she said. "It's like a roller coaster."
