DALLAS, Texas - Football Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw has some choice advice for Tony Romo: focus on football and not girlfriend Jessica Simpson.
The 59-year-old Bradshaw, an analyst with "Fox NFL Sunday," offered some unsolicited advice to the Dallas Cowboys quarterback in an interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Friday.
"If only Tony had called me and said, 'Terry, Jessica [Simpson] and I are going to go to Mexico,' I would've told him: 'You crazy? Don't do that! The paparazzi is going to find you, man. You're a star. She's a star. It's just going to happen.' "
Last week, during the Dallas Cowboys' bye week, the couple flew to Mexico and lounged at a resort there, raising the outspoken Bradshaw's blood pressure. Romo's Cowboys are gearing up to host the New York Giants in an NFC Divisional Playoff game on Sunday at Texas Stadium. The Cowboys have not won a playoff game in 11 years and Bradshaw says now is not the time to vacation.
"For an athlete, there's no time off ... until it's over," he said, "You don't take a mental break."
Bradshaw, a four-time Super Bowl Champion, added: "No way that I would ever, ever do what Tony did. I mean, I can have my picture taken with movie stars when the season is over."
Romo was ridiculed in December when Simpson attending a home game against Philadelphia and the quarterback had one of the worst performances of his career. Now, taking a trip on the eve of an important playoff game will only add further pressure says Bradshaw.
"Everybody in Dallas knows you played horribly when Jessica showed up [against Philadelphia]," said Bradshaw. "OK, now what if you play poorly [against the Giants]? You haven't exactly lit up the place lately. I don't understand. Why set yourself up?"
Simpson is reportedly skipping Sunday's game.
