HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — An autopsy on the body of musician Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan was completed on Tuesday, but authorities have deferred his official cause of death for several weeks.
The final determination is pending the receipt of additional toxicology, microscopic and laboratory tests that have been ordered by the Orange County coroner's office, police spokesman Jim Amormino told the Orange County Register.
The 28-year-old Avenged Sevenfold drummer was found dead Monday at the Huntington Beach home he shared with his wife, Leana MacFadden.
"It appeared to be natural causes," said Lt. John Domingo of the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Founded in 1999, Avenged Sevenfold was named best new artist at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. The feat came on the heels of their major label debut album, City of Evil.
The rockers followed with a self-titled release in 2007, which featured the singles "Almost Easy" and "Scream."
"He was somebody who just had a warmth and an easy smile and a laugh, and he was as smart as they come," the band's manager, Larry Jacobson, told the paper of Sullivan. "You could sit and talk to him about anything."
A7X, which recently announced plans to record a third studio album, issued a statement Monday on their official Web site.
"It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan," the band said. "Jimmy was not only one of the world's best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy's family and we hope that you will respect their privacy during this difficult time. Jimmy you are forever in our hearts. We love you."
