SEOUL, South Korea — Tom Cruise says his latest movie role is one he closely connected to.
Speaking to reporters Sunday in a rare Hollywood promotional stop in South Korea, the actor opened up about his film "Valkyrie" and playing Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, a man who sets out to assasinate Nazi leader Adolph Hitler.
"I've always wanted to kill Hitler," said Cruise, according to The Associated Press. "As a child, I used to wonder why someone didn’t stand up and kill him."
The 46-year-old Cruise went on to say that he "came to greatly admire" his character during filming.
"Although the story takes place during the World War II, I found the story ageless," he said, before adding that making the movie "was a powerful experience that I will never forget."
