MUNICH — U2 singer Bono underwent an emergency back surgery on Friday for an injury he sustained while preparing for the band's upcoming concert tour run.
According to a statement on the Irish band's official Web site, Bono was admitted to a specialist neuro surgery unit in a Munich hospital, where he is under the care of neuro surgeon Prof. Dr. Jorg Tonn and Dr Muller Wohlfahrt.
The 50-year-old rocker is expected to spend the next several days in the hospital before returning home to recuperate.
How much of an impact the surgery has on U2's forthcoming tour dates remains to be seen. LiveNation has already announced that the group's 360 Tour stop scheduled for June 3 in Salt Lake City has been postponed.
The band said it will release a statement soon with regards to any other potential changes to tour dates.
