HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Usher is keeping a positive attitude after seeing his marriage to Tameka Foster end in a divorce last November.
"I still believe in love," the 31-year-old singer tells People. "I believe in marriage. When I fall in love again, everyone will know. I'll sing about it."
Looking back, Usher is thankful for the former couple's time together, which included having two children, Usher V, 2, and Naviyd, 1.
"I appreciate the relationship for what it was," he says. "Even though it didn't work out, I'm glad we got together. I love her as the mother of my children; we just couldn't be married."
"We're two different people," he adds, "and we have two different goals. It just was never going to work out 100 percent."
Usher shares custody with Foster and say his two sons can be a handful at times. Thankfully, he can always count on his mother, Jonetta Patton, who lives nearby and is happy to always lend a hand.
"She spoils them," Usher explains. "She lets them do everything that she wouldn't let me do. Sometimes, when I'm scolding the kids, I sound just like my mom. I'm like, 'how did Jonetta get in here?' "
