NEW YORK — Jay-Z And Alicia Keys may have helped save the Yankees in Game 2 of the World Series.
The pair rocked the sell-out crowd at the new Yankees Stadium Thursday night with a performance of the Big Apple anthem "Empire State of Mind."
Jay-Z took the field decked out in his trademark Yankees hat and matching jacket while Keys jammed alongside at the piano.
"I made the Yankees hat more famous than a Yankee can," rapped Jay-Z.
The pre-game performance was followed by the Yankees beating the Phillies 3-1 to even the series.
"I think it almost seems like it's the anthem for New York right now," Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter told MLB.com. "I got an opportunity to get to know Jay-Z throughout the years and he's very, very talented doing a lot of things. But he knows what he's doing, so I think New York has kind of embraced that song."
The World Series now shifts to Philadelphia, with Game 3 set for Saturday night at Citizens Bank Ballpark.
